The Da Vinci Code opens

So with all the buzz “The Da Vinci Code” finally opens. It has dominated the newspapers, magazines and web.

Yahoo moives states “While it will still offend some Christians, it turns out that the movie version of “The Da Vinci Code” subtly softens some of the religiously disputed aspects of Dan Brown’s novel.”

While I understand why the Director did this I am a bit disappointed. I think the movie should stick to the true spirit of the original book.

This famous line from the book “Almost everything our fathers taught us about Christ is false.” was no where to be found in the movie version. Too bad. However I think I will still go see the moive. I don’t like my drinks watered down and same goes with movies…

Download to DVD on Cinemanow

Cinemanow is the first out of the gate with a download to burn solution, beating Movielink to the punch. Hollywood should take notice as stated by Gary Gentile of the AP:

“Hollywood has been tiptoeing its way toward letting consumers buy a movie online, burn it onto a DVD and watch it on a living-room TV.
While the studios hesitate, the adult film industry is taking the leap.”

Leave it to the Adult industry to push the technology boundaries. You can read the full story here: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/services/2006-05-14-adult-film-downloads_x.htm?csp=34

Movie Downloads not worth the effort

Mr. Pegoraro of the Washington Post rips both Cinemanow and MovieLink for lack of usability, price, rights restrictions and available titles. I think he is correct about many of his criticisms and I think most of the issues come from the very restrictive rights the Movie studios place on anyone trying to sell their good.

The exciting piece of news is Cinemanow will offer Download to Burn. You can buy a film and burn it to DVD keeping all the extras just like a store bought DVD. Very exciting on it’s face but the bad news it’s only available for certain adult titles. Let’s hope the studios will see the success of the Adult download to Burn effort and adopt it, just like they did with VHS tapes, internet, and DVD. Adult studios have always lead the way in technology so let’s look at this a good sign. Who knows we may get a movie style “itunes” some day soon.

MAC vs PC

MAC vs PC

This has nothing to do with Movies but it does have to do with Technology, so I thought I would post it. If you haven’t seen the PC Mac commercials running on TV check out Apples website. They have all of them available and they are all very funny.
