Disney to sell films online

Ok it seems like the studios are coming around:

Reuters reports:” The Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday became the latest Hollywood studio to offer movies for sale via the Internet by providing films like recent thriller “Flightplan” to CinemaNow, the online service said.”

It may have to do with Steve Jobs now being on the board of Disney, but in any case it’s great news they have taken half the step to what consumers want.

I will spell it out again.

  1. A fair price. Why pay more for less than you can by in retail? (Hint: think Wal-Mart)
  2. Allow burn to DVD so we can watch on out TV’s.

We all know the Wal-Marts of the world will flip out if you do the following but think about how many people on the other side you are pissing off. It’s a nice first step but you still have a long way togo.

IMDB a hobby

What once started out as a hobby site has now turned into the industry standard for Movie information online. IMDB.com is ranked as the 10 most popular entertainment site.

Not bad for site less focused on profits and more on passion. Col Needham founder and managing director states, “We didn’t sit down and think, ‘What’s the best way to make money on the Internet?’ ” Needham said. “This is very much a labor of love. When we started the company, there was no commercial use of the Internet.”

My dad once told me find what you love and make a career out of it. If you do that the money will come. Looks like Needham is living proof of this theory.

X-man 3 is finally here

I don’t know why I want to see this so bad? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that is was my favorite as a kid? Not sure and don’t care. All I care about is seeing the flick. I hope it’s as good as the 2nd movie. RottenTomatoe only gave it a 5.9 out of 10. Oh well, I am still going to see it.
